Do I need a reservation?

It is possible to arrive 30 minutes before a launch and pay for passage on our Pirate Experience, however, tickets can be sold out and you may need to wait until the next launch to board.

It is best to plan ahead and pre-purchase tickets to ensure your child will not be disappointed. From small groups of two to groups of twenty, we would love to share our pirate experience with you. Private parties should be booked in advance to offer the greatest flexibility in scheduling your event.

How early should I arrive?

Simple, at least 30 minutes before sailing. Our crew helps prepare each young Matey for a day of adventure. Arriving late to the event causes your child to miss an exciting part of the experience ~ tattoos, stickers and Pirate ID. In addition, our Capt’n must review important safety instructions that require all passengers and pirates be present.

Is the boat handicap accessible?

Yes. Our dock and passageways can accommodate wheelchairs. There are no obstructed views and so every passenger can participate regardless of their location.

Are infants part of the head-count?

If they can’t walk on their own, they are free to board, but are part of the head-count. The United States Coast Guard requires every passenger, regardless of age, to have a ticket. Please advise the host of the party that you will be bringing additional guests. Each passenger or pirate requires a ticket and parties may be hosted for up to 45 guests only – including ALL guests. We have a special system to ensure only ticketed passengers and pirates board our ship.. there are no stowaways!

Will I get sea-sick?

The ship travels one of the calmest parts of the Manasquan River in an No-Wake zone. Due to the unique design of the Patented vessel, the waves are buffered by the hull of the craft. Very little to no wake will be experienced for the entire journey. The S.S. Jersey Girl is a dry boat.

Will I get wet?

Unless you plan to attack the ship, it is unlikely you will get wet.  It is possible that with a light breeze, the over-spray from the cannons may create a fine mist.   The ships deck is constructed of anti-skid material and our vessel contains a protected, canopy area in the event of light rain.

What about bad weather?

Safety is our top concern and we will never place you or your family at risk. If the weather is sunny, fair, cloudy or light rain, we will launch. Strong winds, lightening or unusual weather events may delay or cancel a launch. If you suspect this may be the case, please call ahead. We will make every effort to safely accommodate your adventure.

Are the pirates scary?

The story of Pirates on the Manasquan is an interactive family, friendly adventure. This story-line is full of excitement, surprises, humor and enjoyable moments. There are no frightening parts of the tour. We offer only safe, family orientated entertainment that is an enjoyable experience for all.  Your child will be the hero in every adventure!

Refunds or Cancellations?

Your Pirate Ship Adventure reservation must be canceled fourteen days prior to your sail date to receive a refund. Birthday parties may be cancelled, with a deposit refund, if given a 30 day notice prior to sail date. Within 30 days, deposit will not be refunded. Recreation and camp trips may be cancelled, with a deposit refund, if given a 90 day notice prior to sail date. If notice is given between 30 and 90 days, your deposit will be applied for next season. Not refunded. If cancelled within 30 days prior to sail date, deposits will not be refunded. The online booking fees are non-refundable under any circumstance. Reservations, inclusive of sail date and time may not be changed without authorization from Pirates on the Manasquan and are based on availability. In the event of a cancellation due to weather, Pirates on the Manasquan will arrange for an alternative reservation or refund.
